Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs)
These plans are most popular with employees because of the freedom they have when it comes to which hospitals and doctors they can use.

Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs)
These plans are also very popular with employers because they tend to bring a lower price tag with them. Some employees embrace them, others resent the restrictions they place on their choices (i.e. you must choose a primary care physician and obtain referrals).

Consumer-Driven Health Plans (CDHPs)
Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) allow employers and employees both to have more control over how their health insurance costs are allocated. CDHPs allow employees to become more informed consumers and spenders when it comes to health care services.
